Richard M. Wodka, M.D.received appointment by the University of Arizona Dean, School of Medicine.

Richard M. Wodka, M.D., FAAFP, M.Div. has been appointment by the University of Arizona, Dean, School of Medicine, to serve a three year term on Human Subjects Research Committee- Institutional Review Board. The focus of this Institutional Review Board is on the review of medically related protocols involving human subjects with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and medical devices as well as biological research.

Dr. Wodka, a residency trained family physician, and elected fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians currently serves as the Director of Health Services Administration at the Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility, in Marana Arizona.

 Dr. Wodka is a 1985 graduate of the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara-Facultad de Medicina, and served a residency and chief residency in Family Medicine at the LAC-USC School of Medicine. Dr. Wodka is also certified by examination in the specialty of Addiction Medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and is an elected member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology Dr. Wodka hold the Physician’s Recognition Award in continuing medical education given by the American Medical Association..

Dr. Wodka was chosen from a large pool of other qualified physicians based on his 14 year history of the practice of primary care medicine, his 12 years of senior level practice of pharmaceutical medicine involving the development of novel pharmaceutical agents with a variety of companies such as Glaxo-Smith-Kline, Johnson & Johnson, Ortho-Biotech, Sanofi-Synthelabo and most recently UCB Pharmaceuticals’. Wodka rose to the level of Regional Associate Medical Director while employed in the pharmaceutical industry.. Dr. Wodka has been involved in protocol development and implementation of Phase II, IIIa and IIIb studies across such diverse therapeutic areas as Respiratory Care, Critical Care & Surgery, Oncology, Gastroenterology and most recently Immunology and Rheumatology, where he participated in US and International medical affairs projects developing such commonly recognized drugs such as ProCrit, Ambien and others.

Dr. Wodka holds a Master’s in Divinity degree with specialized training in bio-ethics and counseling from a pastoral perspective. He is also a graduate of University of Arizona-Center for Legal Studies, Inc. Paralegal Certificate Program.

A resident of Rio Rico, AZ Dr. Wodka has three children, Alexandra, Joshua and Aaron. Alexandra was a 2008 International Baccalaureate graduate of Nogales High School, and is currently attending the University of New México on dual academic and athletic scholarships. She is pre-med, and plans on being an orthopedic surgeon. His two sons, are students of Nogales High school one a freshman and one a junior. Joshua is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and Aaron runs Cross Country for Nogales High.
