Alumni Programs

As requested, we have added a new page to the Alumni Association website. This page is designed as a “fun and easy” way to stay in contact with your medical school colleagues. You can: exchange ideas, submit a "class notes" entry, comment on the medical school experience, post or view photos of past events and re-connect with someone with whom you've lost contact.
We'll be updating this page frequently, so visit us often! Send us your comments and let us know how we’re doing.

Graduate Updates
Guest Speaker Program
We encourage our graduates to participate in the different speaking engagements held both on and off the uag campus.
Orientation and White Coat Ceremony
Orientation is held twice a year, usually in January and August. Graduates arrive on Saturday to take in the sites in Guadalajara, Tonala and the “Tianguis” at Tlaquepaque.
On Monday, Orientation Day, graduates help welcome the new students of the UAG International Medical Program and share their experiences and give helpful advice on attending Medical School and life after UAG. Graduates are also asked to assist in the White Coat Ceremony which is on Wednesday wherein students vow to tend to their patients with honor, humanism, and quality always having the patient’s best interests at heart.
Graduation Ceremony
The Graduation activities begin on Thursday evening with the NASA cocktail with students, family and faculty. The actual graduation ceremony is on Friday morning. During the graduation ceremony our graduate speaker will join the entrance procession and then address the graduating class with words of encouragement and advice. Our Graduates also participate in handing out the diplomas.
Pre-medical Advisor Conferences and Seminars
The UAG invites premedical advisors from throughout the United States to join us in Guadalajara for five days to visit the medical school facilities, interact with students and faculty. We invite our graduates to join us in welcoming these advisors to Guadalajara and, through a short presentation relay their experiences during and after medical school.
We also have Premedical Conferences that are held in the United States through the different Premedical Organizations where we are asked for our graduates’ participation.
Previous speakers:
Roger F. Villalba, M.D. Guest Speaker at the 2004-01 entering class.
Mattehew Lipp, M.D. Guest Speaker at the 2003-02 entering class.
Arnold Feltoon, M.D. Guest Speaker at the 2003-01 entering class.
Mentor Program
You are a valuable resource for students as they contemplate a career in medicine.
There are various ways you can mentor students. Through phone calls, e-mails or personal visits, the student will begin a dialogue with you as his/her mentor. Your experience dealing with advice on surviving medical school, selecting specialties and geographic locations, and juggling career and family is important.
Our goal is to create a large pool of UAG alumni from different regions and with varying specialties, from which the Alumni Association can draw in order to match with students. We will provide the interested student with your pertinent contact information. A student will contact you once the Alumni Office makes the match.
Become a mentor and join former classmates in supporting UAG medical students by getting involved with our current and prospective students.
Alumni Host Program
Do you remember your senior year in medical school, traveling to Fifth Pathway Programs, interviewing for your Fifth Pathway spot; then traveling around the country interviewing for residencies?
A number of you remember that time of uncertainty and expenses and have stepped forward to offer assistance to current UAG medical students.
This new program will keep you connected to your Alma Mater by helping your future colleagues. We encourage you to participate by providing accommodations to a student interviewing for residencies in your hometown. It is usually for just one night, but sometimes for two. Most of the interviews occur between November and January.
