Students
from Puerto Rico and the United States
Are Welcomed into the UAG Family
The
Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, one of the
principle education institutions of Mexico, welcomed her
new students from the United States and Puerto Rico into
the International Program of the UAG School of Medicine
Spsring class.
Speaking
on the history of this institution and the celebration
of its 70th anniversary, Antonio Leaño Reyes, President
of the UAG officially welcomed the students that are beginning
their medical career. This welcoming event has been taking
place for the past 40 years due to an astounding alliance
between Mexico and the United States.
He
also stated that during these years, the UAG has graduated
more than 14,000 North American and Puerto Rican physicians,
thus giving the UAG a well-earned international prestige.
Additionally,
President Leaño emphasized that all of the officials
and personnel of the UAG where available to assist the
students in reaching their goal of becoming physicians.
Dr.
Ricardo León Bórquez, Dean of the School
of Medicine, presented a brief introduction to the Health
Science area and the School of Medicine. Associate Dean
of the International Program, Dr. Francisco Martínez
Sandoval, provided a brief explanation of the courses
and programs in which the students would be participating.
Representatives
from the various departments that comprise the University
also made presentations so that the new students would
be aware of the services available to them.
The
official welcome took place in the Dr. Luis Garibay Gutiérrez
Auditorium on the Main Campus. Parents and other family
members also were in attendance.
Academic
Vice President, Dr. Néstor Velasco Pérez;
Director of Finance, Juan Carlos Leaño Del Castillo
and Director of International Student Affairs, Ms Adriana
Rojo were also present during this event.
