Students in their third and fourth years are trained in the clinical practice of medicine in our facilities which include clinical laboratories, a pathology laboratory, lecture halls, and large and small classrooms for personalized clinical work with patients. We also have a ground-breaking Ambulatory Medical Hospital (HAMA), where students will acquire top clinical skills with patients enrolled in a free of charge healthcare program for added clinical exposure. These patients remain in the clinic for the necessary length of time to guarantee sufficient medical observation and follow-up on their illness.
We offer our students a library with both English and Spanish publications as well as books and journals, and an audiovisual laboratory with computer stations and modules for self-study, clinical learning, and problem solving which are constantly evaluated and updated to provide them with the most recent information in an effective manner.
Our teaching hospital, the Dr. Angel Leaño Hospital (HAL) includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a large outpatient unit with several specialty clinics, emergency rooms, and state of the art surgical and radiological services, sophisticated patient-monitoring systems, and wide-ranging audiovisual instructional facilities.
This hospital includes fourteen undergraduate specialties such as Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Otorrinolaringology, Radiology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Urology.
