MEDICAL COLLEGE ADMISSION TEST (MCAT)

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is required for all U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®), developed and administered by the AAMC, is a standardized, multiple-choice examination created to help medical school admissions offices assess your problem solving, critical thinking, and knowledge of natural, behavioral, and social science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website has more information about the MCAT.

WHAT IS A GOOD MCAT SCORING RANK?
The MCAT committee carefully examines each of the four MCAT exam components. Students who score higher than 121 on the Biology and Chemistry sections are predicted to do well in medical school.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE MCAT SCORE?
There is no minimum MCAT score required to be considered for admission to the UAG School of Medicine's program. Accepted students in 2023 had an average MCAT score of 487.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

In order to be considered for admission to a medical school, you must submit official transcripts from your undergraduate institution.

Grade-point averages (GPAs) are critical in the admissions process for colleges.

The higher your GPA, the more likely you are to be accepted to your desired school.

Of course, your application is evaluated on a variety of other factors, but the importance of strong grades cannot be overstated.
