Fall 2021 courses will be offered on the hybrid teaching format known as B-Learning or On-line, which gives students the option to attend classes remotely and in person.
We continue to closely monitor the developing public health situation. Should safety guidelines require a change in teaching format, all updates will be sent through your student email and posted here.
Students will have the opportunity to choose their method of learning for this upcoming semester (Fall 2021) from:
-On-line. – Learning method to accessed through the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara platform, “Mis Cursos” which provides virtual spaces to teachers and students of different educational modalities. It contributes to the quality of the teaching and learning processes as well as the preservation of the intellectual capital of the institution. (Stay home)
-B-Learning. – Hybrid model of teaching and learning which uses both online and in-person instruction. The in-person classes will be performed with a limited number (9 to 15) of students per class, lectures, clinical practice, and labs. (Students need to be in Guadalajara, Mexico)
In preparation to start the Fall 2021 semester we need to know your choice of learning no later than June 23, 2021 at 11:00 CST. Anyone coming to campus must follow the health and safety protocols established by the University to keep our community safe.

*What is B-Learning?
B Learning is a hybrid teaching format developed at UAG School of Medicine. Designed to accommodate safety requirements imposed by public health authorities to control the spread of the pandemic. B-Learning courses are offered in a blended modality for remote and in-person learning.
*If I choose B-Learning, what can I expect?
Instructors will use the B-Learning model to manage in-person attendance in their classrooms. Two weeks before your first class, you will receive an email from your block coordinator including your schedule. Follow the instructions in that email.
If you choose to attend classes in person this fall, you are expected the follow the UAG Community Health & Safety protocols, developed with the goal of decreasing the incidence of the COVID-19 virus in our campus community.
Students who are coming to campus must comply with a daily health screening. Compliance with COVID-19 protocols is required of all students attending classes in person.
Because we need to adhere to public health guidelines that require maintaining social distancing, classrooms size will be limited.
NOTE: Once you start with the B-Learning method you will have to complete the semester in the same learning method.
Everything related to housing is responsibility of each student. It is up to the student to decide whether he or she will return to Guadalajara.

*If I choose on-line, what can I expect?
UAG faculty is prepared to deliver inclusive, high quality and engaging course content.
Fall Term online instruction will hold live classrooms through Teams. Enrolled students are expected to attend; your grade will be determined by your participation in these sessions.
NOTE: Once you start with On-line method you will have the opportunity to switch to B-Learning, you must contact your block coordinator for any changes during the semester. Once you start with the B-Learning method you will have to complete the semester in the same learning method.

All graded activities will be hosted on this platform. You will also have access to your grades on this platform.
All official University announcements will be made through the message board on “Mis Cursos.”
Student support services
Student support will be offered to students. Support services (such as tutoring) will continue to be offered by appointment with your professor or block coordinator.
Student Counseling and Mental Health Services will be open.
These offices will continue to offer their services to students via phone and/or video conferences.

*What if I start classes and I learn that I may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus, or if I must return home for health reasons?
You must self-isolate, get tested and contact your block coordinator to continue with your scheduled instruction. Review guidelines for further information.
*Can I switch method of learning during the Fall 2021 semester?
Once you start with the B-Learning method you will have to complete the semester in the same learning method; However, if you started with On-line method you will have the opportunity to switch to B-Learning and you must contact your block coordinator for any changes during the semester.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR UAG MEDICAL STUDENTS
UAGSOM BASIC SCIENCE STUDENTS OR MSY1 & MSY2 STUDENTS, COVID-19
All academic activities that includes lectures, exams, clinical skills activities, small group activities from the academy for teaching and learning or any other curricular or small group activity will resume in the fall semester throughout the method of learning of your choice.

UAGSOM CLINICAL SCIENCE STUDENTS OR MSY3 & MSY4 STUDENTS, COVID-19
The current policies for clinical clerkships and schedules for the Fall semester are still in effect. Students are required to follow the protocols and recommendations in place at their clinical sites.
In the case of having a condition that affects your performance or puts your health at risk, and should you decide not to continue with your clerkship, contact us immediately at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org .
All cases will be reviewed by the UAGSOM clinical Clerkships committee to determine your situation in case the hospitals decide to suspend your clinical activities.

WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE CLINICAL CLERKSHIP?
UAGSOM is currently programming student clinical rotations based on their requests and space availability.
HOW IS UAGSOM MANAGING THE COVID-19 RISK FOR ITS CLINICAL STUDENTS?
Clinical students must adhere to the protocols and recommendations in place at their clinical site. We recommend that students take all precautions necessary to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Constant communicating with all clinical sites is ongoing to receive updates on any known exposures to our students or faculty at their sites. We will continue to monitor this information carefully.
WHAT IF I AM PLACED IN QUARANTINE FOR TWO WEEKS?
The clinical faculty (preceptors and clerkship directors) for your current clerkship will provide you with instructions for alternative learning activities. If you did not receive instructions from your faculty, email: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
WHAT IF I DEVELOP SYMPTOMS THAT MAY BE RELATED TO COVID-19?
The CDC recommends that if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness such as cough or difficulty breathing, you should call your primary care physician. Do not attend your clinical Clerkships and notify your site’s GME office, current clerkship director, and email us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org that you will not be attending.
HOW WILL A DISRUPTION OR DELAY OF MY CLINICAL ROTATION AFFECT MY FINANCIAL AID STATUS?
You may be able to temporarily stop making payments. If you are concerned about your studies or loan repayment, we can help you understand what to do in certain circumstances. To get the most updated information for students, borrowers, and parents visit this page on a regular basis.
Students scheduled to sit for a NBME or USMLE exam should monitor the status of their testing site for closures. You can monitor the status of test sites using the links below, and if your test is impacted, contact ECFMG or NBME as soon as possible to have it rescheduled.
